Simple Faux Greenery Decor Ideas to Refresh Your Home for Spring
With winter fading (finally!) and spring approaching, I’m always looking for simple ways to bring a little life and color indoors. I’ve found that one of the easiest ways to refresh your home for a new season is by swapping out or adding new faux greenery. I used to just swap out my decor and greenery for the fall an holiday seasons, but recently, I’ve enjoyed switching things up for spring as well. I would describe my home decor style as modern organic, so I use mostly neutral colors in my home. Adding in greenery is a great way to quickly and easily add a pop of color to break up the neutral color palette.
Not only does it brighten up a space instantly, but faux greenery also incredibly low maintenance. If you’re busy like me, or just struggle to keep plants alive (also like me!), no to low maintenance is a must. You may have hesitations, however, about using faux flowers or greenery. I’ve certainly seen my fair share of plants that are very obviously fake, which I think can cheapen the decor. What I’ve found, though, is that the key to making faux greenery look natural is how you style it. A few thoughtful placements around your home can add warmth and texture without overwhelming the space. If you’re considering adding a pop of greenery to your home, with spring right around the corner, now is a great time!

Use Large Neutral Vases as a Base
It’s very important, if you want your faux plants to look natural, that you steer clear of fake plants that are permanently attached to a pot. Yes, there is the occasional exception, but I have found that these tend to look very clearly artificial. Additionally, you are stuck with that plant year-round. Instead, I prefer to buy separate vases and stems. That way, it’s easy to swap out the greenery seasonally. As my decor-style tends to lean neutral and modern, I go for large neutral ceramic vases. I think large vases tend to look more balanced in a space; going too small can make things feel cluttered and cheap. Additionally, I gravitate toward vases with texture, to add an element of interest. The ones I use have a beautiful textured finish and large scale, which works perfectly for floor styling or larger surfaces like entry tables and consoles. These are the kind of decor pieces that work with almost any design style: modern, neutral, rustic, or even coastal. Here’s a few of my favorites:
- Large Ceramic Rustic Farmhouse Vase
- LuxenHome Rustic Ceramic Floor Vase
- Large Ceramic Rustic Minimalist Vase
- Rustic Large Round Vase

Why Faux Greenery Works So Well for Seasonal Decorating
As I mentioned above, one reason I love decorating with faux greenery is that it makes seasonal refreshes incredibly easy. Instead of completely redecorating your space every few months, you can simply swap out a few stems or branches. This ultimately saves money, reduces clutter, and keeps your home feeling fresh throughout the year.
These are the stems I tend to go for, broken down by season:
- Spring: olive branches, soft greenery, or white flowers
- Summer: eucalyptus or airy stems
- Fall: dried branches and warm-toned foliage
- Winter: pine branches or holly
Where I Find My Faux Greenery
I actually find a lot of my greenery at Hobby Lobby, especially when it’s 40% off. They usually run these 40% off sales every other week. In my opinion, Hobby Lobby has a surprisingly great selection of stems and branches that look very realistic, and they update them seasonally.
That said, Amazon has also become a great option when you’re looking for something quick or specific, just be sure to read the reviews since it can be difficult to vet quality through a screen. The key when shopping for faux greenery is to look for natural-looking leaf shapes, slightly varied colors, and flexible stems you can arrange.
Add a Faux Olive Tree to Empty Corners
Another easy way to incorporate greenery is with a faux olive tree. These are perfect for those awkward empty corners in living rooms or bedrooms where something feels missing but a piece of furniture would feel too heavy. A faux tree can add height, softness, and organic texture without cluttering the space. Olive trees have become very popular within the past year, and I like them because their muted green leaves feel natural and understated. They blend well with neutral color palettes without overpowering the room.

Some of my favorite spots for faux trees include the corner of a living room near a window, next to a console table, beside a bedroom dresser, or in an entryway. They instantly make the space feel more finished and inviting.
Final Greenery Thoughts
If your home is feeling a little dull after winter, adding faux greenery is one of the quickest ways to refresh your space for spring.
A few stems in a beautiful ceramic vase or a simple olive tree in the corner can bring warmth, color, and softness to any room. And because these pieces are so versatile, you can easily change them with the seasons without starting from scratch each time.
Sometimes the smallest details, like a branch of greenery on a shelf or a tall vase in the corner of a room, are the ones that make a house feel the most inviting.
