Easy Bathroom Upgrades to Make Your Space Feel Luxurious
Last year, I was so focused on upgrading our bedding and our living room. I’m happy with how the bedrooms and our main living space is turning out, but I realized I totally neglected the bathrooms! Nothing is wrong with them per se, but they’re builder-grade and frankly, just plain boring. As I begin to tackle the bathrooms, I’ve been thinking a lot about the what changes I can realistically make. I’d like to elevate the bathrooms and make them feel luxurious and inviting, but of course, I want to do this on a budget!
I’ve come up with several affordable ways to instantly elevate my bathrooms. Keep reading on to discover a few of my recent ideas!

1. Add a Towel Warmer for Instant Spa Vibes
I got married last year, and as many future brides do, I read a TON of articles (and watched TikToks!) on the best items to put on your wedding registry. One item that constantly popped up on everyone’s list was a towel warmer! Regrettably, I talked myself out of putting one on our registry. Thankfully, I have the absolute best husband, who bought one for me for Christmas. As someone who is constantly cold, I have been beyond excited to use my new towel warmer! And, I can say that all of the recent brides were correct, a towel warmer instantly upgrades your bathroom, making it a spa-like experience for you and your guests! I recommend an XL towel warmer that can hold multiple towels and/or a robe! I use the HomeMedics XL Towel Warmer, which you can find at Costco or Walmart. Another popular option is the FLYHIT XL Towel Warmer from Amazon.
2. Swap Your Bath Mat for a Stone-Style Mat
Ok. I had been toying with this one for awhile. I’ve always kinda liked the fluffy bath mats, but they trap hairs and fuzz making them difficult to clean. I had been seeing a push toward stone bath mats, which are much more sleek and modern. They’re also supposedly anti-slip, quick to dry, and antimicrobal with no mildew smell! I recently bought my in laws this marbled stone bath mat from Amazon. Most of the ones I’ve seen come in white or gray. I love the white, but I do see that those tend to get dirtier more quickly. Luckily, I’ve heard you can lightly sand the stone mat to clean it! I think the marbled mat looks very high-end, and will better hide stains!
You can also get a smaller stone mat to put on your counter as a quick-drying, water-absorbing soap tray!
3. Use a Soap Tray + Refillable Dispenser
One of the most affordable tricks to elevate your sink area is to replace branded plastic bottles with a refillable soap dispenser. I got ours from Crate & Barrel, and I refill them with a large SoftSoap container I get from Costco. Pair it with a stylish tray and your sink instantly feels curated. Here’s the tray we use in our master bathroom. I’ve also recently added trays in the bathrooms of our AirBnB’s. Homegoods always has great options, and here’s a few of my favorites from Amazon!
Try a travertine soap tray or marble soap tray like these.

Then add a pretty, sturdy refillable soap dispenser—amber, glass, matte black, stone, or ceramic all look elevated.
For the soap itself, consider upgrading to a more luxurious brand like Salt & Stone or Aesop. Little touches like this go a long way.
4. Upgrade Your Towels
When I was putting together our wedding registry, I spent HOURS searching for the most plush towels I could find. I ended up going with these towels from Frontgate. They are on the pricey side, but I have received compliments on these towels from pretty much every guest we’ve hosted.
If you’re looking for more affordable options, try these affordable but soft Amazon bath towels for guest rooms or Airbnbs.
Bonus tip: Roll or fold them spa-style and store them in neat stacks. Towels work double-duty as soft textures and décor. After lots of trial and error, I’ve FINALLY found the way I like to display my bath towels for a spa-like luxury look!
5. Declutter Using Stylish Bathroom Organizers
Luxury bathrooms always share one trait: clear counters.
Here are easy ways to organize without losing style:
- Small countertop trays
- Lidded canisters for cotton pads, Q-tips, & bath salts
- Under-sink bins for extras
- Slim rolling carts for small bathrooms
- Drawer dividers for makeup & skincare
When everything has a designated home, the whole bathroom looks more expensive.
Check out some of my favorites here!
- 5-tier bathroom counter organizer
- Detachable 7-slot bathroom accessories holder
- 3-tier corner bathroom counter organizer
- 3-tier skincare and makeup organizer
6. Add Bathroom Storage That Looks High-End
Even if you’re working with a small space, smart storage elevates the room. Consider:
- Wall-mounted shelves
- Apothecary-style glass jars
- Woven baskets for towels
- A lidded hamper (we got this one through our wedding registry and I’ve been very happy so far!)
Look for natural materials—wood, stone, metal, rattan—to add warmth and texture.
7. Make Sure Your Bathroom Smells Amazing
There’s several ways to ensure you keep your bathroom smelling fresh and clean. Of course, regular deep cleans with scented cleaning products help with the clean smell. I like to add a signature scent on top. Candles, diffusers, and sprays are all great options. They not only keep your bathroom smelling great, but also add a touch of luxury decor. Here’s some of my favorite options:
- Poo-Pourri Before-You-Go Toilet Spray
- Candle
- Reed Diffuser
- Room & Linen Spray
- Poo-Pourri Potty Pods (Odor Eliminator + Toilet Bowl Cleaner)
Final Thoughts
You don’t need a full remodel—or even a big budget—to elevate your bathroom. With a few smart finds and some styling tweaks, your bathroom can feel luxurious, fresh, and magazine-worthy.
